Dear 2nd Grade Families, We are still working on subtraction and regrouping/borrowing. If you get a chance this weekend, test your kid out and see how they are doing! Conferences went great. I’m so happy so many families could make it. As we continue on through the school year, in hopes of not missing any more days, let me know if you have any questions or concerns. We are all still working very hard at our reading fluency. In math, we will continue to work on counting money and telling time, along with our regular Topic Math Tests. Be sure to check out the Lost and Found: next week ALL of the items will be donated. So, if you have lost something, be sure to look there soon!!! tanyawaltersclassroom.weebly.com ---I am continuing to add math and reading sites, so please keep checking it out! I just added spelling lists to it as well! ---Keep checking and signing your child’s planner. Dear 2nd Grade Families, We started 2-digit subtraction with borrowing last week. It is pretty difficult, so feel free to practice this with your child! We are finishing up our state projects and will start learning about the United States of America next week. Our butterflies have done their full life cycle, meaning, they are no longer with us. We are still waiting for more of our mealworms to change to beetles! Conferences are next week. A note went home last Friday with your time and day, please email me or send a note to school if you are unsure of your time and day or if you need to change your scheduled time. tanyawaltersclassroom.weebly.com ---I am continuing to add math and reading sites, so please keep checking it out! It is pretty difficult, so feel free to practice this with your child! In social studies, each student is researching his/her own state. They are learning a lot of fun facts about their state! Our mealworms had an interesting change over the past few days…ask your child about this! And our caterpillars have changed into butterflies!! We had a review week this week, and due to missing Thursday, this will continue into next week a bit. Every student has worked hard on their review materials. During this time, they have taken numerous assessments to get ready for conferences and report cards. The 100th day of school is now this coming Monday. Conference slips will also go home today. Please let me know if the time or day doesn’t work. I tried to meet the needs of requests and scheduling with other teachers to account for siblings in the school. tanyawaltersclassroom.weebly.com ---I am continuing to add math and reading sites, so please keep checking it out! A review went home before this break and we worked on a review today. Feel free to practice problems like these at home over the weekend. Our test will probably be on Tuesday of next week. THEN, we will start subtraction. In social studies, each student is researching his/her own state. They are learning a lot of fun facts about their state! Our mealworms had an interesting change over the past few days…ask your child about this! And our caterpillars have changed into butterflies!! Due to missing so much school, we did not take our spelling test today. I’m thinking we will take it on Tuesday of next week as well. There will be no new spelling words next week, but rather we will be having a review/testing week. Here are the spelling words to practice over the weekend: happy, baby, lucky, safely, lately, yummy, explode, thump, wiping, grasp, gloat, sigh, slumping, socket, carry, sure. tanyawaltersclassroom.weebly.com ---I am continuing to add math and reading sites, so please keep checking it out!
